Winter Sun Walking and Cycling Holidays in Europe
Walking Holiday in Portugal’s Alentejo Region
Our walking route is circular and starts and ends in Vila Nova de Milfontes, a charming seaside village, well known in Portugal for its beautiful beaches. For the first three days you will discover the coastline of impressive high cliffs topped with sandy dunes, and leading down to miles of quiet sandy beaches. This whole coastal area is a national nature reserve and so development is strictly controlled. You visit small fishing harbours such as Lapa das Pombas or Entrada da Barca, where fishermen daily challenge the Atlantic waves.
With over 300 days of sunshine a year, volcanic mountains, lava flows, desert, vinyards & palm lined beaches, not to mention miles of singletrack, Lanzarote is the ultimate year round MTB destination.
The Portuguese island of Madeira lies to the west of the African coast out in the Atlantic Ocean and enjoys a climate ideal for walking almost all year round. An independent walking holiday on Madeira is one of the best ways to see the island. Often described as a garden in the Atlantic this volcanic island is mountainous with lush vegetation.
