Discover the villages clinging to the sides of the textured hills, the exceptional flowers and their aroma and above all the magical sites such as the Colorado Provencal, the villages of Viens and Buoux and the Forest of Cedars. This is a special landscape famous with artists over the centuries and this holiday takes you on a grand circuit of the region with its nature, its history and its villages. This is walking in France at its best.

Getting there:
By train via Paris to Avignon or fly to Avignon. Otherwise fly to Nimes or Marseille then train to Avignon. From Avignon by bus or taxi to Apt.
Day 1 Arrive Apt.
Depending on your arrival time, you could take a pleasant circular walk to the fortified village of Saignon, perched on top of a hill behind a large crag that towers over the valley. ~ 3h30m

Day 2 Cereste to Viens.
Your route takes you to the ruins of the Carluc Priory before continuing to the village of Oppedette. Lovely views accompany you to your accommodation in Viens. ~ 5h

Day 3 Viens to Rustrel.
The route takes you directly to the Colorado Provencal, where you can scramble amongst the great ochre coloured rocks and mini canyons which constantly change in colour with the lighting and time of day. ~ 5h

Day 4 Saignon to Buoux.
After a transfer to Saignon, today's walk takes you to the highest point of the Luberon mountain chain at Mourre Negre at 1125 metres. You are rewarded with a panoramic view north towards Mont Ventoux and the distant Alps and south to the Mediterranean. ~ 5h30m

Day 5 Circular walk.
Today's walk allows you to discover the many layers of history in this region, with impressive views of the Aiguebrun valley and the village of Bonnieux, perched on a plateau above the valley. ~ 6h

Day 6 Buoux to Apt.
The final day's walking takes you first to the Sanguinette valley then the famous Atlas cedar tree forest and along the ridge to the ancient village of Bonnieux. The walk crosses the Aiguebrun combe before finishing in Buoux. ~ 5h

Day 7 Departure.
