This is a great venue for a short break away from it all, combining a short city break with some beautiful walking in an ideal climate. Granada is a city with a huge Moorish influence which reaches its peak in the art and architecture of the Alhambra palace. The city also boasts many other attractions including street cafes, tapas bars and restaurants. La Alpujarra, to the south of Granada, is a spectacular region of deep gorges and high hills, which are well-watered by the melting snows from the mountains of the Sierra Nevadas above. The terrain is mountainous but the suggested routes vary greatly in altitude and length, providing a wide selection of walks for all seasons and levels of fitness. The routes are circular, with distances between 3 and 23kms.

Getting There: Fly to Malaga and take a coach to Granada or a taxi which costs approximately £80. Alternatively fly direct to Granada.

For your city visit, we provide you with details of three city walks and information about how to get the most out of your city stay in general. With two nights in Granada, and the information we provide, you have time to get a real feel for the city and the opportunity to visit the famous Alhambra palace (which needs to be booked in advance). You will be accommodated in a 3 star hotel within 15 minutes walk of the Alhambra Palace.

The Sierra Nevada mountains loom over Granada and its south face forms The Alpujarra. The location of your hotel here is in the village of Capileira. Just 15 minutes walk away is the village of Bubion in the spectacular Barranco Poqueira. These are both culturally interesting villages. They have an ample choice of restaurants, especially Capileira, which is the livelier of the two places. We offer a variety of long and short walks, graded from easy to demanding, including a high-level walk into the Sierra Nevada if you wish. Detailed maps and directions are given for each of the walking routes.
