Day 2 Toblach to Cortina.
The tour begins, as it means to go on, in a southerly direction. You ride through the Hohlenstein Valley passing Lake Toblach and Lake Durren. High up to your left are the distinctive rock towers of the Drei Zinnen. Climbing slightly to Cimabanche you leave the German speaking South Tyrol and enter the Italian province of Belluno. You then have a fine descent to the tourist town of Cortina. ~ 22 miles
Day 3 Cortina to Belluno.
With high peaks on both sides you follow an old railway track to San Vito. Continuing down the Boite Valley you reach Pieve, from where a short rail transfer to Longarone keeps the distance down and avoids a busier section. Longarone was completely rebuilt following a landslide in 1964. From here you continue cycling down the valley to Belluno, an interesting provincial town. ~ 28 miles
Day 4 Belluno to Feltre.
The valley widens today as you leave the higher mountains behind in favour of a hilly landscape. Pretty villages accompany you as you follow a diversely wooded route to reach your destination, Feltre. The town has an ancient centre behind walls and is rich in architecture. ~ 25 miles
Day 5 Feltre to Bassano.
Leaving Feltre you soon reach the pretty Lake Corlo before passing through a narrow valley of the River Brenta. As this valley opens out onto the North Italian plain you reach the town of Bassano del Grappa. ~ 31 miles
Day 6 Bassano to Treviso.
You cycle on the edge of the plains with the hills on your left passing villages with beautiful villas such as Asolo. From here you strike off across the plains to the interesting town of Treviso, famous for its canals and old buildings. ~ 37 miles
Day 7 Treviso to Venice/Mestre.
You leave Treviso following the banks of the River Sile and it is then only a short distance to Mestre and your accommodation. This should leave the afternoon free to go into the old city of Venice and explore. ~ 22 miles
