Our independent cycling holiday in Croatia is on the Istrian peninsula and incorporates the delightful medieval towns of Porec and Rovinj on the Adriatic Coast, and the hilltop town of Motovun. The beautiful coastline is dotted with picturesque old towns and the rolling countryside is filled with vineyards, ancient olive groves, and hilltop villages.

By Air: Fly to Pula or Triest then travel by bus to Porec. Otherwise fly to Treviso or Venice then by train and bus to Porec. There are also ferries from Venice to Porec.

Day 2 Circular ride.
From the bustling port of Porec you follow a cycle path along the coast through pine woods and passing lovely beaches. The route takes you through authentic Istrian villages such as Mugeba and Fuskulin to reach the small fortress town of St Lovrec. A delightful route through the countryside and picturesque villages returns you to Porec. ~ 28 miles
Day 3 Circular ride.
This ride begins along the coast north east of Porec and takes you to Tar. The route then climbs to the picturesque town of Kastelir. From here you continue through a pleasant landscape of vineyards and olive groves by way of Visnjan, famous for its observatory. The route returns to Porec through rolling countryside. ~ 23 miles
Day 4 Porec to Motovun.
Through rolling hills heading east your route takes you through the small village of Bacva with its interesting churches. From here you continue to Visnjan before a delightful descent to the Mirna Valley. Then you will catch sight of the imposing hilltop town of Motovun, your destination for the day. ~ 28 miles
Day 5 Zminj to Rovinj.
After breakfast a short transfer takes you to Zminj. The cycle route takes you through beautiful villages to Kanfanar, where you can visit the church of St Silvestre. The route from here is through a sparsely populated region, partly following an old railway track through a forest of oaks and strawberry trees. You reach the coast and enter the old town of Rovinj, a true gem of a place. ~ 24 miles
Day 6 Circular ride.
The ride takes you to the Venetian town of Bale, well worth exploring. The protected coastal region beyond here is reached by way of quiet gravel roads and cycling paths. The coast has undisturbed lush Mediterranean vegetation, coves, cliffs and beaches. Soon the dramatic position of Rovinj reappears giving you a memorable finish to this holiday. ~ 22 miles
Day 7 Departure.
