The ride takes you eastwards along the coast to the justly famous Mont St Michel before heading inland to the beautiful medieval town of Dinan. Following the tiny, almost traffic free lanes through typically Breton countryside then leads you to Cap Frehel with its miles of unspoiled beaches and rocky coves and on to fashionable Dinard before your return to St Malo.

Grade: Easy

Getting there: Ferry from Portsmouth or Poole to St Malo. Alternatively, fly to Dinard and transfer by bus or taxi into St Malo.
Day 1 Arrive St Malo.

Day 2 St Malo to La Gouesniere.
A short first day begins by following cycle routes out of St Malo, from where you follow the delightful coastal route to Cancale, before heading inland to your hotel in La Gouesniere. ~21 miles

Day 3 La Gouesniere to Pontorson
A short section on country lanes soon brings you back to the coast. Mont St Michel is soon visible in the distance and looms large as you approach. After a visit there, it is a short ride to your next hotel in Pontorson. ~ 30 miles

Day 4 - Pontorson to Dinan.
Quiet country lanes are the order of the day as you follow a rural inland route through villages to reach the beautiful town of Dinan, on the banks of the River Rance. Allow time for exploring the old town on foot. ~ 34 miles

Day 5 Dinan to Sables-D'Or.
A network of tiny rural lanes lead you through small villages in the Brittany countryside back to the coast at Sables D'Or. ~ 31 miles

Day 6 Sables D'Or to Dinard.
A day of cycling along the spectacular Emerald Coast past Cap Frehel, with its lighthouse, leads you through well known coastal villages such as St Cast and St Briac. You should arrive in Dinard with time to explore the town. ~ 34 miles

Day 7 Dinard to St Malo.
St Malo lies just across the water from Dinard but your cycle route is somewhat further, but a short day nonetheless. You go south along the estuary of the River Rance to cross it by bridge at a narrow point. Quiet roads then lead you back north along the estuary to return to St Malo. ~ 23 miles

Day 8 Departure.
