This recently independent country is about the size of Yorkshire and has a population of less than 700,000 people, yet it boasts a beautiful azure coastline with rugged cliffs and sandy beaches which sweep up to the dramatic mountainscape of the interior.
Most of the population is concentrated along the coast where historically there is a strong Venetian influence, best seen in the walled town of Kotor which is a World Heritage Site.
